Erase PTSD Now Launches National Survey to Identify Gaps in Trauma Care

Survey seeks input from individuals, professionals and organizations to identify barriers, underserved populations and partnership opportunities.

CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, August 25, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — After helping more than 2,100 people access treatment for symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress, Erase PTSD Now has launched a national survey to better understand the barriers that can prevent people affected by trauma from finding and accessing care.

The survey is part of a broader call for community partners and input from individuals with lived experience, veterans, first responders, survivor advocates, mental health and medical professionals, nonprofits and other organizations working with trauma-affected populations.

The initiative will gather information about obstacles encountered when seeking trauma care, including affordability, insurance coverage, geographic availability, transportation, wait times, awareness of treatment options, referral pathways and difficulty navigating the healthcare system.

The survey also asks participants which populations they believe remain underserved, whether they are aware of Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) as a treatment being studied and used for symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress, and whether they know where to direct someone seeking treatment options beyond traditional therapy or medication.

“Erase PTSD Now knows a great deal about the people who find the organization. This survey is about understanding who is not being reached, where people are getting stuck and what organizations across the country are seeing in their own communities,” said Coleen LaCosta, Executive Director of Erase PTSD Now.

Survey findings will be reviewed in aggregate to help identify unmet needs, strengthen referral pathways and guide future education, outreach, partnerships and treatment-access initiatives.

Alongside the survey, Erase PTSD Now is inviting nonprofits, advocacy groups, healthcare providers, veterans’ organizations, first responder organizations and other community groups to explore potential partnerships.

Participation does not require an organization to provide SGB or endorse any particular treatment. The initiative is intended to strengthen connections among organizations that share an interest in helping people affected by trauma find credible information, appropriate resources and pathways to care.

Potential areas of collaboration include referrals, education, community outreach, awareness initiatives, research and data collaboration, and identifying populations whose needs may currently be underserved.

Expanding on More Than 2,100 Treatment Journeys. Since October 2020, Erase PTSD Now has facilitated access to more than 1,900 procedures for over 1,400 individuals, investing more than $2.4 million in treatment access.

Erase PTSD Now primarily supports individuals who are uninsured, underinsured or otherwise face financial barriers to treatment. Through that work, Erase PTSD Now has connected with people affected by trauma across a wide range of experiences, including veterans, first responders, survivors of sexual and domestic violence, individuals affected by childhood trauma, exonerees and others seeking options for post-traumatic stress. Those experiences helped prompt the new initiative and the effort to gather information beyond the population already reaching the organization.

Individuals affected by trauma, family members and caregivers, professionals working with trauma-affected populations, and organizations interested in collaboration are encouraged to participate.

The survey takes approximately three to five minutes to complete.
