By combining CitroTech’s fire-inhibitor technology with Athena’s geospatial intelligence platform, the companies are enabling more precise assessments that move beyond static wildfire risk maps to provide targeted protection for utilities, municipal leaders, and homeowners.
Athena’s Voice of the Acre® platform evaluates conditions across four layers of intelligence, from block-level risk profiling down to pixel-level fire behavior and treatment modeling. It draws on dozens of environmental and wildfire data sources to translate vegetation and fuel characteristics, weather, moisture, topography, and surrounding landscape conditions into highly granular, interconnected insights.
These insights help utility providers, homeowners, and community leaders identify and prioritize locations for treatment before a fire starts or spreads. During an active wildfire event, real-time conditions can guide where resources should be deployed and how mitigation strategies should adapt. Treatment and performance data then feed back into the platform to measure outcomes and refine future decisions.
The platform also accounts for mitigation activity — or its absence — beyond the boundary of an individual property or asset, showing how one decision can affect surrounding risk profiles.
To translate these insights into more informed mitigation decisions, Athena has incorporated years of CitroTech’s laboratory and field performance data into the platform to model how CitroTech’s inhibitors change expected fire behavior, including flame height and rate of spread. For CitroTech, this intelligence can help determine treatment requirements for a specific location based on factors including vegetation type and expected fire behavior.

At the infrastructure level, utilities and communities can prioritize mitigation across multiple assets based on relative risk, available resources, and expected impact. Insurers can also draw on this data to inform coverage decisions, in some cases offering premium benefits to properties or communities with documented treatment.
